VPCC Participating in Hampton Comicon

Virginia Peninsula Community College is participating in this weekend’s Hampton Comicon, where it will hand out an event-specific comic book. The Feb. 22 event is set for 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Hampton Convention Center.

The comic book, “Gillie the Gator – Journey into the Future,” was written and drawn by Marketing Director Eric Pesola and edited by Public Relations & Marketing Coordinator Belinda Baker. The book reveals the origins of the College’s mascot and his adventures along the way.

It will be the first time VPCC has been a participant and sponsor of the Hampton Comicon. Faculty, students and staff from VPCC will be on hand to talk to attendees about the classes and programs available at the College.

VPCC will host four tables, which will feature information about its Fine Arts and Graphic Design program, its Drones and Unmanned Aircraft classes, its IT and programming related courses, and its esports team. Esports is the newest addition to VPCC athletics, and the Gators are recruiting gamers to field a competitive esports team for the fall 2025 semester.
